Two particular directions come to mind. Going Down. People quibble over "endianisms." Whether superman could beat the hulk ... and whether a single-minded focus on AJAX is more legitimate than a single minded focus on Gradients, reflecty logos and the beta tag. Because they both leave someone important out of the debate -- users. Moving Forward. Figure out how Web2.0 delivers a better user experience. With user testing, response-driven content, and bottom line results. Figure out how graphic artists and programmers do something other than developing their resumes. If Web 2.0 is something substantive, that's fine. But you are going to have to develop a methodology showing the tangible results. The fastest, most easily agreed upon way is put users into the debate. And that's more social than anything which has been put into this thread so far. |

People have been doing all sorts of unfortunate things to users with 3D since before Magic Cap and Microsoft Bob. Based on SWSX, it looks like we can look forward to is five thousand 2.0 versions of boo.com for every one that has some inkling of interaction design principles. Or the ability to learn from the past. With the excuse of "but all our customers have broadband" look for every bad idea to be trotted out and repeated. ...With a modern coat of graphic design and new code gimmicks. |

that's a good article. don't think i've read anything that bitchy from zeldman before. makes you think though... "Web 2.0 is a fresh-faced starlet on the intertwingled longtail to the disruptive experience of tomorrow. Web 3.0 thinks you are so 2005..." SkyRocket Design :: website design chichester
