Only a "moron" would buy YouTube

Quote:
NEW YORK, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Billionaire investor and dot-com veteran Mark Cuban had harsh words on Thursday for YouTube, the online site that lets people share video clips, saying only a "moron" would purchase the wildly popular start-up.

Cuban, co-founder of HDNet and owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks, also said YouTube would eventually be "sued into oblivion" because of copyright violations.

"They are just breaking the law," Cuban told a group of advertisers in New York. "The only reason it hasn't been sued yet is because there is nobody with big money to sue."
Couldn't agree more

Last I heard YouTube were after $1.5b or something ridiculous like that. To be honest I don't see the mega fascination with YT. Is it just me ? Perhaps hype has something to do with it...I don't know ?

A great name + huge usage stats + virals + "web 2.oh?" = hype.

I still like YouTube. Not knocking it. I've found some great old TV stuff that I never got the chance to see.

I highly recommend "The Root of All Evil" with Richard Dawkins. BBC documentary about religion vs. science.

I guess to be honest, I've not really spent too much time looking around for stuff on there. I've only ever used it from links to strange videos & homemade clips...maybe I need to be YouTube'd

YT is great when you want to find the video for that band you love that you haven't seen in ages!

Considering that the purpose of music videos is to promote the song, the idea that record companies are considering suing youtube for hosting low-quality versions of the videos seems quite ridiculous.

As for old clips of telly shows that are never going to be shown on telly again, who gives a damn?

YouTube shows a lot of videos per day, 150 million, if they can sell short adverts in the videos I sure they will make a lot of money. I was looking in the top videos list and a lot of them were not from commercial tv stations, I guess it just depends what percentage have copyright issues.
