i have used Meebo on the odd occasion that my MSN messenger has decided to break on me. Its good in emergencies. I've never really had to use it that much otherwise though. I suppose it provides a convenient service for other people though. |

Meebo are a great service. Didn't they recently raise another round of funding and are now valued at something crazy like $250 million? (Something like that anyway). I'm really looking forward to seeing these large 2.0 companies (meebo, twitter etc) try and implement their non-excitant business models. |

How do you know Meebo doesn't have a business model? They're innovative, very soundly organized and they got the attention of AOL which recently brought OPEN AIM to market and are now a business partner. I don't think that's something you can say is non-existent. Your criticism above seems a bit biased and is likely due to the fact that you haven't had a look around their site to learn more about all of the talented people behind the scenes. As mentioned above, I'd STILL go work for them in a heartbeat if I didn't already love what my current job. fun: HGC v.4 | last.fm: DT | me | oi! f*ck u roto: ...via meebo!

I think you've missed my point. Yeah, they've got a lot of good people working there. Yeah, they've got good traction and a big userbase, yeah they have a sweet service. -- That doesn't mean they have a business model. Right now they're paying for everything using their VC money (which they've recently milked dry which is why they have just raised another round). I'm not trying to rag on meebo at all. I said in my first post that they're a great service. They might have some awesome money making idea up their sleeve but right now they don't have an obvious way to make money. I mealy said it would be interesting to watch them implement it. |

I'm sure it's obvious from my posts throughout this thread, but I'd gladly pay for an upgraded Meebo service if they were to ever offer it. Not having to have 5 different IM clients installed on my machine is invaluable. Their fun meebo widget offering (which is linked to in my signature -- and some of you dters have challenged me via) are actually a great possible platform for a facet of web-based customer support. I feel they have a ton of untapped revenue streams which could make the company valuable, but that said, Meebo's goal is likely to build the ultimate web-based IM platform and sell it for buku bucks. fun: HGC v.4 | last.fm: DT | me | oi! f*ck u roto: ...via meebo!
