I disagree with the user reg, at least some of it. The problems the author fails to understand is spam and abuse. Spam is a website killer, if you let any visitor post comments on your site without registration you are opening yourself up to getting flooded with spam. Its also very easy to abuse sites if no registration is required, digg for instance would be worthless if you were not required to register to cast a vote.
