Ilija Studen, a developer from Serbia, has released a free clone of the popular project management service Basecamp. ActiveCollab is a PHP/MySQL tool that users download and then install on their own web servers. The end result is a free, open source and web based application.

Could be useful;

It lets you automate things mike - like the creation of tasks, etc. I'm assuming it's meant to provide a simpler way to let clients do things?

Defintly worth trying! I just tested it and it's really practical. I think I'm gonna keep it for client projects.

Yeah I think I'll give this a go too, although I'm going to wait for the v1.0 release because Ilija states that it will include Time Tracking which I need for my projects.

If you guys are looking for a simple tool to manage projects and use time tracking, there's this free service I use at www.sidejobtrack.com. Keep in mind this does not have collaboration tools or client areas. It's solely for managing small projects and sending invoices - it can be very useful depending on your needs.
