Typography basics

Hi there.

To clarify things, I must admit the only "graphic design course" i took for real, was a free course (paid by the government) where I learnt to use photoshop, illustrator and all that.

But the fundamentals were pretty lousy.

I'm trying to learn new things right now, and I was interested in learning all there is to know about type.

Would you all be so kind to point me to good resources?

I want to buy a pair of books - and surely i'll buy them in a pair of months - but right now my pocket is empty.

Thanks in advance. Big thanks in advance, in fact.

This book was recommended to me: Stop Stealing Sheep - it seemed pretty useful, but I had to rush through it 'cos some bugger put a hold on it at the library and I had to take it back after a few days...

Thank you, Andyo. I'll look for it on play.com.

Just so you know, I just found this and I'm utterly amazed.

It's a great article. Way great. Didn't know at all about Carl Dair.

Hey there

I'm studying a graphic design degree currently and for type, we had 'type and typography' by Phil Baines recommended to us. Hope this helps!

Nobody gets it for free. But Students must pay fewer prizes for the software.

Five Simple Steps to better typography : Articles : Mark Boulton

My best tip, would be to pay more attention to the white rather than the black and keep it simple.
