just starting to play around with ideas for a logo for a motion graphics company. I've sketched out some ideas for possible imagery, but i want to look at manipulating fonts as well...just to get some ideas really.

i'm not really much of a type guy..I find it a bit dull & I don't keep up with what the new nice fonts are.

(well, its not that i find it dull, it's just I'd rather someone tell me what the good fonts are so I can get on with the other aspects of design)

please give me a list of fonts which are good. and 'now' !

also maybe some fonts which are a little bit different which could be tweeked for a cool logo.

just found the thread 'fonts 2007' which looks useful. but if you guys have seen a nice font recently which is classy, new and would maybe work for a wee bit of tweeking to produce a logo for a motion company, then please let me know.
I know this is a bit vague, but...yeah I should really post up some examples of the kind of style I like.

Assuming you're paid fot that job, I think you should do your homework by yourself. Post some of your ideas then, I'll be glad to give a feedback.

If you want to tweak a couple of letters, that's your right - no problems. But if you want to incorporate the alterations into a new font based on the old one, you could run into trouble unless you get permission.

I based one of my own fonts on some lettering I saw somewhere, without realising it was an actual commercial font. Fortunately Andreas' brother saw my version which I posted here on DT and he contacted me to let me know. I redesigned my work - keeping the general spirit of the design but changing all the letterforms.

I'm looking for more like that - I like this style. but this seems a little thin.
If you have more examples/variations of this, that would be great.

^btw - I didn't mean give me the fonts NOW.
I meant 'now' as in contemporary/modern.

other favourite foundrys? just looking in my bookmarks....the fonts section is a little sparse. I quite like House fonts, but a lot of those are kinda wacky for my tastes.
