Graphic/font character

Sorry if my terminology is off, but here's my question.

We have a collection of signature images that we use when we want to print out documents that are pre-signed. When they print, the edges are pixelated.

I'm wondering if it's possible to turn that signature image into a font character, so that it prints smooth edged, like regular text?

PM me if this is the case.

Do I just buy a font program and use that? I've never messed around with a font program before...

Vector trace the sig - then place into a MS document as SVG.

you will need a vector program: professional ones are quite expensive and need a bit skills, the freeware ones tend to produce some ugly clutter when exporting/expanding typefaces.

tyke - your question may as well be asked out here. We don't judge (much).

You can vector trace using Illustrator. SVG is a scalable vector format compatible with most MS docs - you can save your sigs in that format from illustrator and insert them into your document.

A large GIF (200%+ of the final image) of the same sig would probable be fine for most office printers.

Hurr Kurm very kindly made me an SVG version of one of the siggys, but Word won't recognize it. I have Office 2003, I think.

How do I insert the image?

I've installed the Adobe SVG reader, and I'm inserting the svg file as an object. But it says the application is not available to open this object. *sigh*

I guess this isn't the right forum for this part of the problem.

Get yourself a copy of Irfanview from www.irfanview.com and you can convert from SVG to whatever primitive format Word requires. Probably jpeg.
Or get yourself a copy of Open Office from www.openoffice.org and use that instead of Word.

You could always get the trial of Illustrator and try to do your own traces of the others. Also @irfanview option, been using it for ages now and tis really good to use.
