palace script, possibly cheap conversion
My client sent me his logo and the typeface used in it is Palace script. If I zoom in I see some utter crap - its all hairy and not even at places it should be. I´m afraid that it is a cheap conversion from postscript to opentype. Check this screenshot: http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/7...tercraplf9.png If anyone of you has Palace script installed please zoom in and check if you see the same shit E: look at the tip of the ascender of N and the bottom of e |

Smooth as caramel on my laptop. It kerned wrong, though - a nasty zigzag between t and w. To be honest, anything other than a wedding invitation presented using Palace script remains unread. These flowery handwritten scripts from the days of Jane Austen have no place in the hustling bustling Nordic world of 2007. The Italians might like it in connection with a designer kitchen sink etc. Here's a screengrab of what I get. ![]() |

thanks for the kerning tip steve. Anywhoo, I guess I got it fixed, i dont know what the guy who designed did with the typeface but it looks really shit. Got my hands on the font file itself (had to raise my voice but it was worth it) and here is the result: http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/3323/fixedat6.png Steve, cant you really see the difference? Kerning is still an issue because the typeface blows, I should edit the glyphs directly but i have to talk to my client to get the permission because it will not be cheap for him |

You're welcome. Here's what I get now. ![]() When you ask, can't I really see the difference - well, I can only show you what I see on my monitor. These postings are jpegs, raster images, so you can be sure that they represent what I get. Comparing these two, the latter is slightly smoother, but I wouldn't have been alarmed by the first version. I gather you are seeing something really objectionable. (Hope you don't mind me asking - are you Estonian or an expat Brit?) |

No! All I get is fekkin Palace script the way it was crafted. As my jpegs prove. But I'm beginning to wonder what's causing it to look so alarming on your end. Can you take a screen grab and post it? (You need to upload it to a server first and post the url here). |

I have a feeling that it has something to do with your laptops LCD, it smoothens things out or something. I´m behind an old CRT and still can see the jagged and malformed glyphs. These both previously are screen captures and on my end they are way different, the latter is with smooth and clear lines now. If I would have a decent camera here I could even take better pictures of both. Before: http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/7186/beforecz3.jpg After: http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/8113/aftergi3.jpg The images suck but my hands are shaky and the camera on my RAZR is probaby the shittiest on earth. |
