Hello,
I’m busy collecting anecdotes in relation to type or to a specific letter. I know there must be loads around but i can't seem to find very many. Does anyone know any funny, interesting, exciting stories? It could also be a surprising type-historical fact.
These are a couple of examples i've found already...

There story is about a Sabotage act in the White House which apparently happened shortly before George W Bush and his staff moved in. Apparently the former staff made a practical joke and removed as many “W” keys from all the keyboards in the White house as they could.

Peg Entwistle, a failed hollywood starlet, who is the only person known to have killed herself using type. She climbed the giant letter H in the famous hollywood sign and threw herself off it.

Roman Kingsley trained his flock of geese to do sky-writing by flying in formations to spell out colpany logos. he said that there were a few teathing problems, trying to get the birds to spell properly was a bt of a problem.

These stories can be real, april fools joke or completly made up. any kind of anocdotes would be really usefull

Not sure what kind of anecdote this is but it's quite true. A friend and I used to regularly get together to talk about the rapidly developing DTP field in the early 90s, including of course much talk about newly available fonts and their description, the advantages of Helvetica vs Arial and that sort of happy crappy. His quasiwife, mother of his child, forbade all such talk as soon as she joined us. She didn't want to hear talk about fonts, oh no.
She soon disappeared from the scene, went into trank rehab and didn't really come out again.
My friend and I still talk about fonts and what DTP turned into - the InDesign/Quark scene - when we meet and he has a new quasiwife and a new child.
