good fonts to use for main text

I'm not really a font guy. it's all a bit of a mystery to me to be honest.
What fonts are decent for main copy? (for print)
is tradegothic decent?

something simple. For this job I won't be able to buy a new fancy font....but if someone could supply a list of good respectable fonts that would also be useful.
Mik - you're a bit of a font-meister aren't you? or I am I thinking of something else?

ok I went with Tradegothic... it was just a really quick half hour job (text for back of a postcard for the company I work for) It turned out ok anyway. cheers.

I feel that I'm winging it a bit when it comes to type jobs. I came from fine art background then moved into design and now I'm doing motion graphics, so I never really got any formal training for typography.
I'm ok with the sizing and spacing with type and I know when it feels right, but it's the actual choosing of the fonts that I have probs with.

I'm thinking of buying this http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...195949-8691033
any other book recommendations welcome.
