Very nice. What software did you use for that?

they're really good, i wasn't expecting anything as 'polished' as that.

now tell us what software you used and how you made them.

does anyone know any good tutorials for producing stuff like that ?

thanks

All of the stuff is a mix of shot footage, stock photos and CG. The elements were put together in after effects for the most part. The color splashes in the opening sequence are actualy shot elements. I shot ink drips floating in water, then manipulated colors and speed in after effects. The most chalenging part of this was actualy coming up with ideas for 24 different award categories, and finding something white to represent them. This was all screened at MoMA ( museum of modern art ) here in New York this past week.

How did you separate the coloured droplets from the water in your original footage? I'm guessing bluescreen or something?

the Robinsons ad mentioned above has moving figures made out of coloured liquid swirls

unless they got really lucky with their ink droplets, it must be cgi

so, when I watched your first movie i thought "ah-ha, this guy is using the same plugin as the Robinsons ad", but knowing that you shot actual ink in actual water suddenly makes it much better

very nicely edited too - bravo!

the categories film works really well too - you can kind of tell you've used video stock, but it all fits in beautifully

nice one

I shot the ink in a water tank and used a white board behind it, so I preatty much had a white BG to begin with. As for these Robinson ads, I have no idea what it is. Are these in the UK? I don't think we got them in NY, don't even know what Robinsons is. I'm curious to see.

They're a series of ads based on the same idea but with dancing figures

that ink-water video is great, the change of speed in the motion makes it look even more like cgi

You need a CFD app like Glu3D (max only) or Realflow (app independant), and even then it's a pain to set up and simulate at a decent resolution. The robinsons ads were originally done in Alias Maya using Unlimited's Fluid Effects.
