Shot entirely in black and white and set in the UK, it's about a struggling unemployed young writer (or wannabe-writer) called Bill who starts following people at random - something he justifies as an attempt to capture characters and personalities for his writing. One day, a man he's following approaches him and introduces himself as Cobb. After the initial discomfort as Bill tries to explain why he's been following him, Cobb explains that he's a actually a burglar and thus starts the main plot of the movie - Bill joins Cobb as he breaks into places and is startled to find out that Cobb is every bit as interested in the lives of strangers as Bill.

As you'd expect from the director of Memento, it's done in that sometimes-cool-sometimes-overdone Pulp Fiction style whereby sequences of the film are shown out of order, but it's not done often enough to become irritating. There's a also more than a few twists along the way, including a fairly major one towards the end which helps to tie everything up neatly.

Well worth seeing.

I second that..........the movie is amazing.

I try not to get too excited about a film based on its trailer, but this looks top notch.

Its classic, feel-good pixar stuff !!

Some of the graphics detail actually looks rather lifelike too ... impressive.

I watched Inside Man the other night and thought it wsa soooooo dull. At no point did I give a shit if any hostage got blown up by some ridiculous amount of Semtex or if the robber blokes made it out without a fight. Not to mention how horrendously flawed the story is, seriously what bank doesnt have a security office? and who on earth wouldnt notice the thing at the end unless they are complete numpty.

I am Clive Owen...boring...shit actor, plays nothing but the same role over and over again, moody miserable English twat.

Haha really didnt like that film did I. Watched Apocolypse Now on F$ last night which was abit mega!

Also making my way through the Wooden Allen collection, all good this far.

odd, I really enjoyed V for vendetta. made up for the toss that was the last two matrix films I thought.

Saw Apocolypse Now last night too - can't believe I never saw it before. very good indeed.

I quite liked V for Vendetta too.
Except for the monologue when he talks in words all beginning with V.

I could hardly keep my eyes open - if it wasn't for the false promise of nipples I wouldn't have.

Red Eye...if you'd even consider it, don't bother. Wes Craven has lost his marbles.

Finally saw Brokeback Mountain and Munich.

Both excellent.

I can't pick a favorite of the two. I just know that they were both much, much better than that patronizing, preachy, Oscar-baiting tripe called "Crash".

(...to continue the finally saw list)

Finally saw The Machinist last night.

Wasn't as good as I had expected/been led to believe it was. Thought that the story was basically a compilation of similar (better) films, and had already worked it out long before it finished.

That said I was suitably impressed by the dedication that Mr Bale has. Couldn't believe how thin he was!
