Defenetly agree, Elizabeth town dragged so much and nothing really happened....

Forgotten about Singles have we? That's my favorite, and it's going to be tough for me to believe you didn't like it, so you may like Crowe more than you think.

Oh yeah, and Steve...don't cum yet...

Thought Singles was OK. Nothing special.

Part of my hatred may have to do with the fact that my college roommate (film major) loved Cameron Crowe.

Just saw Walk the Line last night - quite good. Excellent performances by all. I was impressed by how well he sang Johnny Cash. Still no replacement for the Man in Black, but...

Bought King Kong yesterday. Never saw it before. It was good, but I'm not sure I should have bought it, but I was bored and it was only $20.

Finally saw Michael Haneke's Caché last weekend.

Quote:
Georges, who hosts a TV literary review, receives packages containing videos of himself with his family -- shot secretly from the street -- and alarming drawings whose meaning is obscure. He has no idea who may be sending them. Gradually, the footage on the tapes becomes more personal, suggesting that the sender has known Georges for some time. Georges feels a sense of menace hanging over him and his family but, as no direct threat has been made, the police refuse to help...
I know it sounds almost like a thriller, but it's actually more focused on the impact these tapes have on the family, and the resulting deterioration of Georges' relationship with his wife and son. The tapes are actually linked to something which happened during his childhood and his reluctance to face his past comes to the fore as the film progresses and we find out the significance of the drawings he receives. It's actually all the more powerful after the race rioting in France recently.

Very cleverly shot at times, and with an ending you may actually miss completely if you aren't paying attention, I thought it was great.

Trains Planes & Automobiles - classic, funny as hell and you wouldn't regret buying it for your DVD collection either.

Same goes for Coming to America.

Sadly, my most recent watch was X3 the other night. Although I'd hate to spoil anything, it was thoroughly horrible whereas the others were at least entertaining. The director change from the first 2 was very noticeable.

Next up, I've got to see something good, and District B13 has gotten rave reviews across the board on almost every movie site I've seen. The website is a bit over the top, but the film looks cool...a total "dude" flick.

Watched a film called Following last night, which was directed by Christopher Nolan - he of Memento, Insomnia and Batman Begins. I'd only really gotten hold of it as I'd seen on the cover that it was 'by the same director as Memento', which I thought was great and figured it'd be worth watching.

Shot entirely in black and white and set in the UK, it's about a struggling unemployed young writer (or wannabe-writer) called Bill who starts following people at random - something he justifies as an attempt to capture characters and personalities for his writing. One day, a man he's following approaches him and introduces himself as Cobb. After the initial discomfort as Bill tries to explain why he's been following him, Cobb explains that he's a actually a burglar and thus starts the main plot of the movie - Bill joins Cobb as he breaks into places and is startled to find out that Cobb is every bit as interested in the lives of strangers as Bill.

As you'd expect from the director of Memento, it's done in that sometimes-cool-sometimes-overdone Pulp Fiction style whereby sequences of the film are shown out of order, but it's not done often enough to become irritating. There's a also more than a few twists along the way, including a fairly major one towards the end which helps to tie everything up neatly.

Well worth seeing.
