So many classic lines in that movie.

I didn't care for Donnie Darko. Found it quite boring, pseudo-intellectual/philosophical pretentious bullshit - kinda like the Matrix, but not as bad - but I didn't hate it. I'd watch it again.

Just saw "The Fog of War" - documentary about Robert Macnamara (Secy. of Def. in the '60s) - very, very interesting.

Since I'm on the war kick lately, next up is Saving Private Ryan (3 cheers for DVD burners!).

Well, I'd seen it before, first off. And also, it's certainly horrific, but it takes a lot to turn my stomach. And some things will do me in and others won't. Like, I could never watch Saw. I saw (harhar) the previews and that thing about cutting off one's own foot (not a spoiler since it's in the preview ). That would turn my stomach more than Saving Private Ryan because it's more...sinister or disturbing or something. It's more personal, I guess.

Speaking of horrific, I'm debating about seeing The Hostel. If it's truly as fucked up as I've heard, it will make Saw (which I saw) look like a children's movie.

That, too. If I refused to See-Saw (haha - ripe for parody) I'm certainly not going to see Hostel.

Just saw King Kong - far too long, ripped off Jurassic Park too much and was pretty boring.

Go on and have a watch and tell us, "the timid", if it's really that bad...

Not sure I agree with the boring bit. Saw it last night. I thought it was pretty much end-of-the-seat stuff.

Far too long? I thought it was well-paced. A bit sore on the a**e sitting that long on a cinema seat though but worth the 3 hour visit.

Also it is too easy to throw the 'Jurassic Park Rip-off' at any film with Dinosaurs now. The original Kong did dinos before Dickie was in diapers!! I loved Jackson's take on them. The nods to the original movie were applaudable.

The Anne/Kong love bit was a bit overstated for my taste but, all in all, I thought it was a very good movie.

Excellent points all-round...agreed As expected, and as mentioned above, I was entertained. Anything Jackson does after L.O.T.R. is going to be a step down...people expect so much after those films.

I love how all his great, old B-horror movies have been repackaged to add, "From the Director of Lord of the Rings!"

As if that's going to make someone buy this (note the differences between the new packaging and the old.

I don't care, exactly, but I just thought it was funny that they added "From the Director of Lord of the Rings" to something he did 10 years before LoTR.

It is awesome, but Braindead (aka Dead Alive) is better.
