Drugs - The Top 10

Well, maybe that title is a bit misleading, but it was good to see an honest, scientific, factual approach to the 'top 10' of substances on BBCs Horizon just now ...

Shock ! Horror ! Alcohol and tobacco made it into the list.
About fuckin time somebody dealt with the facts.

I'm sure that we're all fairly clued up about the pro's and cons of this, that or the other ... but i can't remember ever seeing a 'drugs' documentary that dealt with ciggies and smack, or booze and beak.

Rather refreshing TV !!

(waits for general public outcry)

I guess the reason the legal stuff are the biggest killer is because their is no risk of a custodial sentence if you're caught with a slab of beer or cartons of ciggies, so more people will buy them. I guess drugs would be up higher if they were legal and had a bigger user base. Doesn't mean there is less risk than alcohol and tobacco.

Im pretty sure, alcohol kills more people in the UK than any other drug. Cannabis has no recorded fatalities, yet it is illegal.

What about fastfood thats killing loads of stupid fat people. Bar staff dont serve drunk people, same should apply to fat people. Macdonalds should have scales next to the tills

I can't get over how cheap alcohol is in Japan. It mustn't be taxed at all. It's seriously half the price of stuff in Aus.

LOL I'm with you on McD. I always feel queasy after it but still go back. A drug in itself

The point I was trying to get across is the abusers of legal substances will always outweigh the abusers of illegal substances all the time due to the "ease of access" factor for the legal stuff.

Actually here in America, it's easier for a teen like me to get a quarter ounce of weed compared to a 24 case of beer..

You'd need rather a lot of it to feel the effects so I don't think it's much of a concern. If you want to try a legal hallucinogenic drug google for 'salvia'.

The thing that gives recreational drugs a bad name is the odd few people each year who don't take them responsibly. Because the government has a long lasting vendetta against drug use, these few cases get blown-up in the media, and they make it out that drugs like ecstasy are the biggest killers.

Drugs taken in moderation and resposibly shouldn't be painted in such a bad light. The government should be educating people how to take them if they decide to.

There was something on the news last night about a girl overdosing on heroin and being left brain damaged.

The moral of the story should be: don't overdose on heroine not, don't take drugs.

In the same way you shouldn't try to down a bottle of whiskey, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't drink ful stop.
