Lost

Anyone here still watch Lost?
IMHO the show took a dive in quality mid season but the past 5 episodes have been the best yet.
Man, that hut in the last epi was creepy and when the voice said "help me" in that sad voice, sent chills down my spine. Some really freaky stuff going on on that island.
Anyone still watching?

I watched the first two episodes, based mainly on the vast lead-up promotion, and stopped. Nothing interesting had happened, apart from someone saying "Those were polar bears!"
Quite a few people I know gave up watching it after an initial disappointment.
Anyway, I did a bit of research and discovered what the premise is behind the whole idea of the series. I won't do a spoiler, but I don't think watching all 426 episodes is worth the effort.

It's the best written show on Tv currently. It's no effort.
More cliffhangers and plot twists in and episode than there usually are in one season in other shows.
It's just insane.
But I can see it would be a problem catching on if you don't watch it from the beginning. Buying the dvd set would perhaps be the only option.

!!!spoilers Beware!!!

I still watch as well, and I'm glad this thread has been revived in a new topic.

The last 2 episodes, IMO, have been incredible. It's hands down the best show on TV (at least, in the US, but that's not saying much because we'll soon have National Bingo Night).

Anyway...

I have some thoughts on the most recent episode. SPOILERS...BEWARE!

1) Jacob looks a lot like Locke. Those of us who TiVo'ed the episode had a chance to check this out right away. Those who REALLY have no time on their hands created this: Lost Screencaps and Easter Eggs: The 11 Frames of Jacob

2) Jacob (who, at this point, may or may not be Locke's Twin/or Locke himself from another time) is real. However no one can see him. Ben Perhaps once saw him, or knows of his existence, but Now Ben cannot see or hear him. The others also know Jacob is real but cannot see or hear him either. They all think (or at least Ben thinks) John Locke can see him. Jacob also does not get up to greet Locke. Perhaps he is paralyzed like Locke was in the "real" world.

And, finally...

3) Did Locke's missing kidney save him? It appears the irony may lie in the fact that Locke will survive because he got shot where his kidney used to be (before his father stole it). Nice twist, eh?

There is good news for all fans of the show as well: There will be 42 more episodes split into 3 seasons.

SPOILER
SPOILER
SPOILER

Some people say he looks like Alvar Hanso.
What about the ring of dust around the house? Usually it's used to keep spirits either trapped in or away. In this case ("help me") I guess Jacob is held prisoner inside the hut for whatever reason. I guess he's dangerous or bad.
And now Locke will set him free and all hell will break loose.

It makes sense that he wont die because of the kidney thing. Nice.

But what about Richard? The dude hasn't aged a day since Ben was little. Perhaps the "hostiles" have always been on the island. If it's like hell or something. And they're luring innocent people over there.
Or his pirate clothes would suggest he came on the island on the Black Rock. Perhaps the hostiles are cursed to live forever on the Island ala Pirates of the Caribbean and they have to lure enough people over there to die before they are set free? Dunno.

In the end after all those 42 extra episodes it turns out they're in an alternate parallel universe - oops! Spoiler!

Well, duh.

Polar bears, my arse.

Steveb that's just one theory.

And the polar bears were once a part of the experiments done on the Island. Now the animals roam free around the place.

He's a handsome man in a sorta macho way, no doubt, so I thank you for that. (I could do with a dose of macho).
However, on closer inspection...

SPOILERS

Last night's Lost pissed me off...I expected (at least some of) the big battle with the others, and instead it was all preparation for said war. Then again, of course they'd leave all the fun for the 2 hour finale next week!
