I'm not so convinced with the App store, I got Aperture from it and after the problems I had with four hard drives corrupting the other week I had to install all my system and programs.

When it came to the App store it insisted it was installed (which it was, previously, before I had to wipe the drive) and wouldn't let me re-download it.

I tried to be clever - I'll download the Aperture trial and it should recognise it's registered and unlock it.

Nope. It wanted me to enter the serial number to unlock it (which the App store doesn't give you) or jump through hoops to get a trial serial number in order to unlock it. Luckily, I remembered I'd backed up some bits from the drive that died shortly before it went bristols up and copied it over. It worked.

But, with Apple's continual 'ease of use' mantra, should it have been that hard to do?

I'm going to stick to boxed products or software that can be downloaded with a serial number from the creators site. Not impressed with the App store at the moment.

Edit: Interesting thread here and here.

Been using Sparrow for ages - really good; they've just updated it to integrate with Facebook (no good for me but may be for Facebookers).

I'm sorry, I missed your call.

Don't know much about CRM, but I do know of Daylite, but that's bloody expensive (I love how they put the 'buy' button right down the bottom).

Quick search of the app store found this: CRMHaven on the Mac App Store but you probably need eyes of steel to live with using that daily.

This one too: Relationship on the Mac App Store (there's a one star review on the aussie app store though)
Review on MacWorld: Jumsoft Relationship 2 Office Software Review | Macworld

Or if all else fails

BetterTouchTool - Let's you assign tasks to multitouch gestures (i.e. the spaces panel to a three finger swipe down) beyond the normal set. Includes global, finder + app specific gestures.

Calendarbar - Quick calendar in the task bar, can be intergrated with facebook as well, which is quite handy (although not needed imo) [80% off at time of posting].

Both quite useful. Have only been using BTT for 10 minutes or so, so I'll post an update with how it goes. Calendarbar is a must have, unless you wanna fork out for Fantastical imo.

Update for BTT. Combine three finger swipe left/right with spaces and the option+left/option+right arrow key short cuts and spaces becomes so much more useful than it was before.

I like the look of it too, but $17.99 - seems a bit steep for what it is (or rather isn't).

Still, if you're an author who has a problem with fonts, pages & margins etc then its probably worth it.

Give it 6 months and Apple will 'incorporate'* it.

*Pinch it.
