TopStyle

So I've started using TopStyle for editing static XHTML/CSS and am finding it very useful. I'm probably not noticing 90% of the features, but so far it's great.

I went to edit a template file (in PHP) for phpBB and it gave me a warning about editing anything but HTML/CSS. However, it showed up fine - color coded and all (just how I like it).

My question is this - does anyone have the experience with TopStyle to definitively say that it's appropriate for editing files in other languages - specifically PHP? That is, is it adequate for that or should I just use Dreamweaver and forget TopStyle?

I'd prefer to use 1 application for editing all text-based files.

Thanks, Sticks.

Maybe I'll buy a license then. Only have 10 more uses left on the trial!

Yeah, I used to use Notepad2, but it's too irritating to have all those things on my taskbar - I prefer to have the one application open with tabs inside it - as in Dreamweaver and TopStyle.

Otherwise, I liked Notepad2 just fine.

if you're doing any serious development in php, particularly using oo techniques, i've found Zend Studio to be fantastic.

Not as of yet - I'm as beginner as they come with PHP, but I'm going to start doing simple content management sorts of programming - i.e. templating and using includes to prevent having to repeat things like navigation and headers and footers - eventually moving into more complex programming.

I imagine that should be simple as piss.

if you haven't already, look at Smarty for a templating engine

and if you're getting into db-work (content management), AdoDB is very useful
