More than just a generic CMS...?
Does anyone know of a simple CMS that's tailored to restaurants? I have about thirty contacts in the restaurant field and, of course, none of them have any technical experience. Basically, what I'm looking for is a content mangagement system with an easy-to-use interface. Something along the lines of "Add New Menu Item" where they could click that button, type in name, description, menu price, etc., and have it show on their website. Easy-to-add reviews and newspaper appearances would be amazing, along with a wine list, and whatever else would be restaurant specific. I don't mind paying for it either, as long as its on a per-license basis and not a monthly recurrence. I've looked into the obvious choices - the freewares, open sources, etc., but I really want something geared toward restaurants. Thanks, if anyone can send a link my way! |

looks OK, but you have to pay a fortune to get a fraction of the usability of wordpress. Customise Textpattern or Expression Engine. Both have their strengths. Textpattern is open source. Expression Engine has the components to make your site exactly how you describe it. |

I looked into Anole. Unfortunately, they want a per-month usage fee, where the CMS will be hosted on their servers, as opposed to letting me install it on mine for a per-license fee, which is what I'm looking for. I don't really trust Joomla or the other open source CMSs, but thanks for the tip, Limbo, I'll be looking into Expression Engine. |

just curious what do you mean you don't trust them?? EE runs on php/mysql. both of those are free and are variants of being open source as well. |
