More Than 1Gb RAM? Photoshop Speed Boost Tip

i finally got my replacement 4Gb SODIMMs for my lappy today after getting a duff module before xmas, so i've been pottering about looking for optimisations and discovered this gem i never knew about:

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...ernalId=320005

specifically the 'bigger tile' part of that page - the path is slightly different on CS3 (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\Extensions\Bigger Tiles on winblows) but it works… dramatically… went from 2.2 seconds down to 0.8 seconds to open a ~200Mb .psd; sweet!

the plugin affects redraw speed so it should make quite a difference across the board.

news to me… never heard mention of this anywhere, so i thought i'd share - you might as well squeeze as much performance out of your box as possible eh?

Yeah it does take longer, but at least it doesn't cost thousands to buy and hundreds every time they decide to release an update. Not that any fucker actually pays for Adobe software.

I haven't met a single person that is using a legit copy of any of Adobe's software.
