Actually, anything by Panic is worth checking out.

I'm quite partial to the MySQL prefs pane installed as part of the ServerLogistics MySQL installation package
Makes installing MySQL and switching it on and off a doddle.

Key Xing

Classic Window Management (CWM)
check VersionTracker

Marc Liyanage's PHP4.3.4 installer for OS X.
Does for PHP what the serverlogisitics installer does for mysql.

Cocoa MySQL
GUI-based MySQL client

I use Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall both of which are commercial products. Can't remember the last time I even received an infected file (as you'll be aware, macs enoy a certain degree of natural immunity from virii attacks).
Check VersionTracker

It's probably worth coughing up for a commercial app when it comes to anti-virus and software firewall.
I wouldn't leave such things to a freeware/shareware developer with little or no development budget.

What about hunting around for free editions from commercial companies?

You can get PC editions of AVG and ZoneAlarm for nothing. Not that that's any use to you...

Or mik, given that he's looking for OS X stuff.

I have AVG on the testing XP/PC, though that was almost a token addition as I don't use it to receive/check my email or browse the web. I've still to download a decent browser so I can stop using that retard IE which makes the browsing experience about as unbearable as it can possibly be.

Just noticed that AVG and ZoneAlarm are only legitimately free for single home users and non-commercial use.

Sorry, missed your post.

Tbh, I don't recall there being anything complex about the installation.
Drag n drop, I think.
