removing rubbish from drives

Just a touch of spring cleaning.

I need two bits of advice folks.

firstly - does anyone know of any great freeware that i can use to clean up registry /old files /old installations etc

and secondly I have removed all *.tmp and *.old files.
Are there any other files that are save to remove?
