Safari v85.5 + moveTo() and resizeTo()?
Just upgraded to OS X 10.2.8 which in turn upgrades Safari to Safari 1.0 v85.5. Suddenly, it seems that it won't obey javascript instructions such as moveTo() and resizeTo(). I previously used a javascript 'favelet' to reset the prefered position and dimensions of my browser window. No can do now. Is it just my copy or is this a new, intentional addition to v85.5? I've done a little searching, but haven't found any reference to changes in it's javascript handling. I can imagine that such things may have been implemented for the same reasons as the pop-up blocker, but there seems to be no settings for moveTo() and resizeTo() in the prefs. I want them back. Help? TIA |

Thx, but I'd rather have my fingernails pulled out. It worked fine up until I U/G from 10.2.6. to 10.2.8 (which took Safari from v85 to v85.5). It might also be something to do with the Safari Enhancer half-hearted attempt to remove the brushed metal theme. Reinstalling Safari will probably set things straight. |

Finally grabbed the stand-alone installer only to find out that it's not the latest version (v85.5 that comes with the OS 10.2.8 u/g) Even so, a cleanly installed version of v85 (on a 10.2.8. volume) demonstrated the same javascript problem with moveTo() and resizeTo(). I've not installed any system level 3rd party things since the u/g, so I'm now left thinking that it is being caused by something that came along in the OS u/g itself. It's a medium-sized p.i.t.a as I used that bookmarket many times throughout a browsing session. I'm not planning to downgrade to 10.2.6 just to retrieve it, so I'll have to keep looking and asking around until I find some answers. :notahappybunny: |

Fwiw, I've just discovered that it's the Saft Safari plugin that's causing the problem. It's a plugin that enables full-screen and kiosk mode for Safari (via hotkeys and launch defaults). I had it set to force every new window into a new tab instead (i.e. even popups windows appear as tabs). Handy, but not worth suffering the side-effects. |

Fwiw, the Saft plugin is actually handy and works without interference for most of its functions. I still use it and will probably continue to find its access to kiosk mode useful for presentational purposes. It's only turning on the 'Always open browser window in tab' option that messes with certain window handling javascript commands. I've deactivated that one option and everything's as it should be now. ...fwiw. |

I guess thats no great loss if you're opening links from within Safari itself as you just hold down option. External links open in a new tab (well, from Mail and such like) if you choose the "open links... in the current window" in your preferences. Might install it after all as it does look quite useful. |
