osx woes
Been trying to get a copy of Jaguar 10.2. As I am quite poor, I decided to try and buy it second hand on ebay. bad idea! got it in the post and it's copied and doesn't work. so I'm currently in the process of tryin to kick his ass. Does anybody know of a cheap place on the internet where I can buy it legally? It was about £90 on Amazon ::: TC Magazine :::

Be sure to leave a comment about his bad dealership. Fwiw, I noticed a boxed version of Panther was available on Ebay y'day. Looking at Ebay (Software > MAcintosh) now there appear to be "full versions" of Jag (some boxed) available for £16-25. Each of the vendors appear to have 100% positive feedback. Was it one of these that you went for and got screwed on? Btw, what was name of the vendor that you bought the dodgy CD from? It might prove useful to know if only to avoid the chance of ever buying from him in the future. |

cheers for checking that out. the guy i ordered from was called Sockbridge. that's not the person who is selling these ones at the moment. I've sent him an email asking him for the original discs or my money back so I'll see what he says back to that. don't fancy my chances though. i may go for one of those other ones though because its not a lot of money to risk really. when i finally get a legitimate copy of it it probably would've been cheaper to just buy it in the shops. ::: TC Magazine :::

the guy who sold me the duff disks got back to me and acting all ignorant, saying he bought off someone else in good faith and that i could get my money back. so i'll get my money back then leave a really scathing comment on his feedback. cheers for the advice greenfruit. tomson if you want to sell your 10.1 as well then, just let me know. and my mac is running just fine. ::: TC Magazine :::

http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/...ons/howto.html it says here that you can upgrade from 10.0 to 10.3. so i presume you would be able to jump straight from 10.0 to 10.2 as well. anybody know for sure? ::: TC Magazine :::

i've been paid finally so i've ordered myself an iBook which i think comes with Panther but i think it would still be a good idea to upgrade my desktop mac as well. therefore i'd be interested in whatever software i'd need to bump it up from 10.0.1 to either jaguar or panther. rather than just upgrade it i may wipe it and install panther. is that a good idea? or are things liable to go wrong? cheers for gettin back to me ::: TC Magazine :::

I always prefer to start from scratch rather than upgrading - so yeah I think wiping your HD and installing a fresh OS is a good idea. It gets rid of all that crap you never use. So... i've got a sealed, boxed version of !0.3 and a unboxed (as supplied with my G4) version 10.2. Both are full installs. Drop us a PM if you're interested in either. I can always put 'em on ebay if they're of no use to you. |
