MASSIVE, MASSIVE app

Not wanting to sound completely patronising, but am going to anyway.

Composition > New Composition, choose your settings (640 x 480, 25fps etc) and you're away, timeline down the bottom where you can get lost in Layer Hell.

Start small, as usual, name everything and keep everything in as much order as you can, I haven't used it in a while, but I'm pretty sure you can import Compositions into Compositions which often makes managing projects easier (Scene1 = 1 Composition etc.)

Import stuff (most files, including Photoshop files WITH their layers if required) into window on the left (like a library).

You can drag stuff from their onto either the Composition window or the Timeline.

If your machine's struggling a bit you can use the drop-down buttons along the bottom of the Composition window to change the view reolution from Full to Half or Third, and change the scale to a different %. Hope you've got lots of RAM!

Good. Your machine should cope fine with that unless you get really carried away with the lens flare filter
