I designed a logo in Illustrator. What file type should I export this in so it can be scaled and used liberally in Microsoft Office by the client? SVG didn't seem to function too well . What vector file format does Microsoft Office recognize in other words?

use the illustrator - export for microsoft word feature.
tends to do the trick.

or try saving it as Windows Meta File: .wmf format
