It looks nice, simple and clean, I am not
sure you needed flash for that kind of thing,
though.

What I don't like is the popup window.
It would work fine without it IMHO

I have FF configured to open clicked links
in a new tab in the same window, so I could
not return to your page because I had no tabs...

Other than that simple, easy to navigate, nice

While I'm usually against the use of Flash, I think it works well here.
Like the colours and simplicity of the layout. Nice work

sorry but how does the flash work well?

I love the design but there's nothing there that required flash.

@smallebeer: you can use flash in an animated website like 2advanced.com but flash can also be used in making simple websites...in my opinion, flash website will not only be limited on the animations ..but on how you do the design.. =)

LOL - is that really the name of a company? very unfortunate.

I like the layout and colours - but I hate popups (I like to navigate forward and back - call me old fashioned but splash pages and popup sites do not top the usability list)

Also not sure why it was built in flash - HTML, CSS and Flash sections would be a better solution IMO.

Some good stuff tho

Why does it have to require Flash for it to work well?

I didn't say that.

You said the flash works well. I asked you to explain.

I'm not a flash basher I just think there's a time and a place for it. The banner images maybe. All the text and links though? There are so many reasons not to do it we shouldn't even be having this discussion.

As I said I love the design but the site as a whole is flawed because of the use of flash.

I going to agree with joeyx2000, the little animated details lift this site, you can, with a fair bit of coding experience recreate the animated effect using javascript and dom but why bother when flash can do it so much easier

I agree with you about the use of Flash, I'm against the use of it where its not needed.
Think I worded it wrong, just meant that the site works well.

I formally retract my previous statement

looks sweet joey, what I think people are trying to say, is why have the *entire* site in flash, when you could just have *sections* of the page - for example the top half in flash, the bottom in html - then you could have links to pages, and people could use thier forward and backward browser functions etc. while still having the animated effects at the top - the site would look and work the same, but be easier to deal with, capische?

Saying that, I don't care too much about that, it's your personal site, do whatever you like with it - just don't take it personally when this forum gets a little preachy.

I would get rid of the pop up though, there's just no need for it

im going to do my site in flash, sick to death of css and standards have enough of that at work and noone wants to read blogs.

dont get me wrong, xhtml is fantastic and hand coding in it is second nature to me now, but sometimes you need to have a bit fun and do what you want, especially on your own site.

i tried experementing on my site..like getting rid of the pop-up and it looks good..but doing it both flash and html make my design crappy..ill just stick to fully-flash this time...

Because maybe she doesn't care if Google finds her website, but I'm willing to bet that clients do. And with a site built in Flash, it's not going to happen.

In addition, accessibility to people with disabilities is thrown out the window when using pure Flash.

And I hate, hate, hate pop-up windows that take over the screen and re-size themselves. That alone is enough for me to leave a site immediately.

I like the design, though. I just don't think it should be 100% Flash.

@gray - you're right. Flash is fine - there's nothing wrong with it. And, being a personal site or portfolio site built in Flash is fine. But I'm willing to bet that clients will not want a Flash site if they're aware of its shortcomings - they'll want (X)HTML/CSS all the way (or so-called "plain HTML" if they refuse to keep up with the times like I had one guy doing...I finally just stopped arguing and built the site with standards anyway).
