www.theimages.biz UK Photography Directory & Resources - Comments Please...
Hi There, Please could you give me some feedback on www.theimages.biz I'm looking for comments on the sites design and layout (it should be valid xhtml/css). Also, what do people think of the idea - at the moment there are several photographers directories - most of which want up to £30/year for listings. The aim of this site is to build my portfolio, for promotion of other sites and possibly to make a small amount of money from listings - if it takes off. However for the time being all listings will be free, to build as big a database as possible. The actual directory is offline at the moment as there are very few entries in it. If anyone on here is a photographer or provides any photography/wedding related services, please add your business to the directory. Thanks - Chris |

Well, yes I do really want you to tell me what you think of it - thats why I asked. I'm intending on spending a lot more time on it, I just wanted to get some other peoples opinions on the design etc. Just for the record, I'm not a photographer my self... - Chris |

I like the fact that you're not using flash as almost every photgrapher out there - Faster and easier. However I think it looks kinda empty and plain .. need to get some more colors to it, more graphics .. and some photos maybe? |

Nothing to comment on really. Just text and some ugly grey boxes... I don't feel that #EEEEEE gray works with that almost vermillon red. make it look professional, now it just looks cheap. Sorry. www.sxc.hu - not the same thing, I know, but simple and to the point and well structured. |

You have the usability skills - I remember your portfolio but you need to work on the graphic side of things. Maybe you could pick a good looking font & image replace your title text. Branding is worth considering - A logo and a memorable color mix might be a good idea? And Definitely get yourself some images that shout "use me!" for your home page then link them to each directory. The image you have chosen as your moniker isn't up to much either. IMO a macro of a camera lens and 'off the shelf' title text in arial is a bit dull - remember your'e trying to attract visually biased pros so dig deep into your creative side. |
