Simplifi Studios Reel & Site ::::::New::::::
I am new to this particular board so I figured that I should show you who I am and what I do... I am a Motion Graphics Designer who had to make his own websites. This site is my third and I am not that good at the web design just yet. Go ahead and let me know what you think... Simplifi Studios |

First: welcome. Second: why the splash page? - Don't see the need for one Third: why the popup? - Don't like to lose control of what I'm clicking. Fourth: why sliced images? - No, no, no. Fifth: Nice imagery, good job. - I like the look/feel of the site. Cheers |

Here are the reasons that I did what I did: Mainly a lack of knowledge when it comes to web design and the software available. But I use Dreamweaver because of it's ease of use. Splash Page: because I wanted the page to be a certain size and that way I could control the size of the popup window. (That is the only way that I know how) Popup: Same idea and I didnt plan enough ahead to make room fo rthe video in the same screen. Both of these could be solved if I knew how to control the size of the window when you click a link without opening a new window... Finally, how would I go about this site any other way, without sliced images? PS: Remember I am a Motion Graphics Designer... (not web... hahaha) |

I think some people here will agree with me that splash pages and popus are both annoying an dated. But that's not that big a deal, afterall. You shouldn't use images as text, because there are people who need larger fonts to read your texts, and you don't want to lose them, now, do you? Instead, you could export the basic layout from photoshop just like you do now, but without the text, put all images in the background of the cells, then add text. Thus you will have a site that is both accessible and google-friendly. You could start to learn proper html (if you want to) from sources such as www.w3schools.com www.alistapart.com www.mezzoblue.com http://css.maxdesign.com.au as it's really not that complicated But as I said, the site looks good. |

just watched your reel, excellent work. I wouldn't even know where to start to produce something like that site design is nice as well, I agree with the post re: using an image as text - that's a no go. You should re-do that part |
