CSS remake

Seeing as some people didn't take too kindly to the last version of this site, I've made my very first CSS layout ever.. and it's horseshit. I'm sure there are about 9000000 things wrong with it, I'm still getting my head around everything.

anyway, here it is. It doesn't work in IE, but looks ok in Firefox.

http://www.alaska-design.com/properlofi/cssremake.html

Any help would be appreciated

i think you just need to validate the HTML and it'll be ok, <text1> isn't a tag, I think once that's cleaned it'll work fine

use proper html tags.

<h1>Heading 1</h1>

<h2>Heading 2</h2>
<p>paragraphs</p>

etc, etc.

Actually I'm still confused.. if you look at the original (www.alaska-design.com/properlofi), how do I make the news text in columns in CSS? is there a simple explaination .. I'm following everything else so far.

Other than what everyone else wrote above, I don't think it's horseshit OR that there are "9000000 things wrong with it". Kudos for trying, and I look forward to seeing when you go live with it.

text columns can be achived by having two seperate paragraph elements, one floated left, one floated right. they'll need set widths & some margin/padding to get the spacing right.

as for your css redesign .. what's with the use of iframes and inline styles? and tables in the iframe source code? i know you're just learning, so i'm not really having a go, more just wondering if that's stuff you've still got to do/learn

Well I don't know any alternatives to iframes at the moment? As for the tables in the iframe source code, when I've mastered one page, I'll have a go at the rest. I literally started reading up on CSS about 2pm today.. so it's still quite overwhelming. What do you mean by inline styles?

very nice first try.
the alternative to iframes is no frames at all, I guess
and inline styles

This CSS example sets color and font size information for the text in a specific paragraph.

<P style="font-size: 12pt; color: fuchsia">Aren't style sheets wonderful?

In CSS, property declarations have the form "name : value" and are separated by a semi-colon.

To specify style information for more than one element, authors should use the STYLE element. For optimal flexibility, authors should define styles in external style sheets.
