Well, it seems really cluttered to me, and I wouldn't do the entire thing in Flash because it takes too long to load. The body itself doesn't seem to "flashy" so you should just have that as HTML. You should also make it resolution safe or give it a border. Since it's a light color on white, it is really easy to see where the design stops and where whitespace begins. How much longer before you click on my link?

the site wont be published in flash, thats just what im designing it in everything will be laid out using HTML, the only flash component will be the world browse part the site will fit the page and will resize with it once its coded up as for it being cluttered, if a person feels overwhelmed they simply click one of the side menus buttons and it'll minimise |

Took bloody ages to load. Why is it in flash? I don't get it. Even if you design static pages in flash ( Nice colours for a trek type site - greens make sense. I'd change the colour of the 'older articles' and 'trekker diaries' headings though. I don't think it looks too cluttered as it's in clearly defined sections. There's two 'quick news' boxes. |

I like it. Love the colours and only suggestion I can make is to make the navigation more prominent by using a contrasting colour - maybe the orangy/brown from the logo. Is this a redesign btw or are you starting from scratch? That's fuckin' ingenious, if I understand it correctly. It's a Swiss fuckin' watch.

Thats pretty good - a couple of comments tho... Could you introduce some sort of hierarchy into your content? It all seems a bit samey at the moment. Also the typography lets it down a little - particularly the 'Featured Article' header. Not bad tho. |

tomson, ive tried introducing hierarchy by giving the different sections different colours which will be carried through the rest of the website eg, if you went to read a trekker diary the content colour would be blue where its green in the main content area, featured articles would be orange, etc etc any other ways of creating hierarchy would be appreciated |

Nice I like the colouring. As far as hierarchy goes I feel that it's the repeated sloped hill icon on the news/login etc that distracts me. I like the way it looks but it just appears far too many times in too small a space for me. Maybe you could just use it at the top of each column and use type differences to distiguish each section? Though it may all feel better if there is more content on the page and the repeated icon image isn't so close. Not sure what the background colour on looks like on a PC but on my mac it's incredibly pale - as good as white didn't even notice it a first, maybe make this a little stronger to help the seperation, or you could reverse the whole columns out of the green instead ? Overall feel I like - time for a bit of a tweek |
