portfolio mockup
Hello all, Firstly, apologies for posting this on DOFORUM aswell, but it really isn't as active as it should be yet. I've been planning to redesign my portfolio site for some time now and originally penned it down for the summer. However, I knocked up a mockup last night and was wondering what people thought. http://www.creativedistraction.com/mockup.html Thanks for any comments. Andrew Parker

I like it, but prefer the right side shifted around like this: http://www.fridje.co.uk/test/mockup_01.jpg (I am aware that I may have missed the point by joining the broken lines, but its just personal preference) |

I really like the logo type (what font are u using there?) and colours and also the links look good. Has a 'quality' feel to it. The one thing im not sure about is the old telephone, doesnt really fit with the design. But otherwise good stuff My .2 p , Oli. |

Thanks guys, The logo type is Gill Sans Light (currently making an appearance in my redesign of this forum!). I think the relationship between the logo, menu and body content has always looked, how can I say, uncomfortable. Joining the logos vertical line to the contents right border has crossed my mind and looks alright. I'm just not sure..... I've had a play with some different colour schemes here. Tell me what you think. I quite like logo eight, though I fear the colours may be a bit to wishy washy..... I'm really aiming for a "quality" feel for the site with a firm emphasis on the services I can offer so thanks for that. The telephone image is probably not going to stay. I really like it but am struggling to attach any relevancy to the site..... Andrew Parker

Unfortuantely, I am really crap with blue. I think I'm pretty good at colour palettes but the only colours I seem to be able to work with blue are greys and different shades of blue.....? You're welcome to have a go if you want Andrew Parker

This is the best I could come up with: [img:9518fd3e9a]http://www.creativedistraction.com/images/logo_09.gif[/img:9518fd3e9a] As far as I know Gill Sans Light is a standard mac font though it is available for the PC here. Andrew Parker

I like logo/palette six for a "quality feel" (the one you've used in the mockup) and it works well with the phone. If you scrap the phone however, think about choosing a colour scheme to tie in with whatever replaces it. 7 and 8 are both a bit washy and 1, 2 and 3 with pink, purple and green in amongst the grey remind me of arthouse or fashion label type sites (they look alright, but probably wouldn't suit your site). The phone could tie in as 'communication through technology'. |
