ColombWeb is here! :D FINALLY!!! :D w00t w00t!!

Okay, the content isn't really finished yet... I've got some portfolio work in there, and I've got the contact and about pages finished, but that's it.

I just wanted to show off the design and development of the site. It's all MySQL driven, and the template is mine. There are very little graphics, mainly HTML (faster loading time). I think it's great! I think it looks really professional hehe... what do you guys think?

Imo:

You need to re-think your use of space and your (non) use of padding. The top is cluttered, but there's wasted space in the lower half of most pages.

Don't you like colour?

Some colour, some padding, and a bit of text formatting wouldn't go a miss.

There's a famous closed down shop in Leeds with the sign "Profesional Hair Care".

Well, thanks for the tips :P

I do like color... I've already fixed the header... (good thing I did all this stuff with CSS!

Also, the space problem will be solved pretty quick, atleast once I get enough things to fill the space up with.

Now Why did you tell me that? Are you trying to implying something? Because I asked for your opinions, not for smart-assed remarks. :P

kk... it's got color and padding, but the use of space is still not too good... I am wanted to ask one of you guys if you knew how I could fix it. You see, I'm using a table with the id "InnerT". And in my CSS file I had the height set to 100%. But the table InnerT still stays the same size! I want it to cover the entire <td> that it is inside of...

Splash pages are bad - very few are used well. Your work is impressive and you obviously have a lot of talent in web designing. However your splash page is terrible. Please take this as constuctive criticism - I'm not just having a dig. It doesnt fit in with the rest of your website and is a bit tacky really. Too much wasted space on the pages.

Has potential.

Yeah... it did go along with my site about 15 minutes before you posted that :P hehe... I'm going to take it off, but I need to figure something out first... there is a portion of my site that I am working on, and it doesn't work properly... so the splash page will scare people off until I'm done :p

I know I criticised the lack of colour, but I don't like the green. When you play with the opacity (at the top) it looks like snot. I think you should do some reading on text formatting. You're already using css, so have a look at padding and line-height.

Use the space, Luke.

I did use padding, and now you don't like the color green? Green happens to be one of my favorite colors. I still have the space problem though, I admit that. But that will come with time...

What does line-height do?

Your text looks cramped to me. Line-height controls the spacing between baselines of text. The best unit to use is normally %. Experiment - try adding line-height:150%, for example, and see how it looks.

Also, looking at your stylesheet, you may find this article useful:
Introduction to CSS Shorthand
Quote:
border-top-width: 0px;
border-right-width: 1px;
border-bottom-width: 0px;
border-left-width: 0px;
border-top-style: solid;
border-right-style: solid;
border-bottom-style: solid;
border-left-style: solid;
border-top-color: #000000;
border-right-color: #000000;
border-bottom-color: #000000;
border-left-color: #000000;

I didn't say I don't like green, I said I don't like the green you've used. Especially, the snottier (US=booger?) colour at the top. Just personal taste.

Oh... kk... well, thanks Makes me feel worse! hehe... jk

now, I know CSS, but I have never used line height... I figured out what it does though... and I dont think it's necessary I'll fill that space up with content, it'll just take a while.

It's not just to fill space - it's aesthetics! Controlling the line-height is just one of the various things you can do with css to ensure your text is as readable and as pleasing to the eye as possible.

Good news. I prefer the blue to the greyscale and the green versions. The line-height has helped the text, but it still needs more padding imo.

You haven't sorted out your stylesheet:

border-this:2px;
border-that:solid;
border-myarse:#000000;

should be:

border-left:2px solid #000000;
