You haven't implemented the box model hack, so it looks like this with ie5x pc: ![]() The header image's width is pushing the top container out, so it should be fixed if you use a slimmer image instead. Like this one: |

It now looks like this for anyone on a PC using internet explorer 5x: ![]() I have to go out now, so I can't help you at the moment. You need to implement the box model hack if you want to keep the wide image and have everyone still see your site clearly. See this The box model hack is needed because ie5x on the pc is gay and doesn't apply borders, margins or padding properly. I have to go now. - Bye! |

Implementing hacks isnt the point, I dont think I will. I woul rather people realised their browser was shite than have to hack perfectly neat and correct code. Removed overflow:hidden;, (an IE only attribute apparently) and shortened the image, but I am not hacking the code. |

Listen to the_boy_brown. Implementing hacks is the point because the point was to allow as many people as possible to see your site. Its a design/portfolio site, so I assumed you'd want people to see your site correctly and showed you how to do this. As for people's choice of browser - I agree with your sentiments, but it doesn't work like that. Do you think people will realise their browser is shite or assume your design skills are shite? Do you think everyone who uses the web knows how to/is allowed to update their browser versions or manufacturers as often as we'd like? Too many designers frustrated with browsers take their fight to the people trying to access the web instead of getting at browser manufacturers. The box model hack doesn't cost anything, isn't difficult to use and helps out those on a particular browser/platform. You're still free to send hatemail to microsoft, but those innocents who are trying to use their product don't have to suffer. The end result is more people can see your site as it is intended, I think that's a good thing myself. |
