Designing for yourself is always a pain in the arse, but you've done a good quality job all round I'd say.

I like it a lot.

The one thing that bugs me is when the big thumbnail type thing at the beginning says 'click for more', and it just takes you to that one project. It's a bit irritating because you can see the other projects, but you don't go straight there, you have to scroll through.

I like that a lot and I'm impressed that you've paid some attention to the copy, both linguistically and typographically. The movement in the transitions is amusing enough to actually play with - well, I did anyway! Simple minds and all that...

Really nice mate...

The only thing I'd say is that on a smaller monitor (i.e. the 12" screen on my iBook) the site sits right at both left and right-hand viewable edges. Could maybe come in by twenty pixels or so each side.

Apart from that, good stuff!

yes - it's quite 'iphone-esque' on those transitions

gotta love the Cycle plugin - it's pretty amazing what you can do with it and it's so uncomplaining - it'll slide/fade about anything

thanks! yes i am perhaps a bit guilty of building sites a bit big - was based on a 980 grid with 112px columns and 12px gutters

the new bbc sites will be 976px i believe

I think stick to a 960px grid mate, you won't go wrong with that.

You'll be as safe as milk.

Anyway, great job! Nice use of sprites, too - it's good how you've ordered everything so that the portions that are needed first are on top.

Personally, I don't like emphasis in body text, though it does work well with what you've written.

Edit: I think copywriting is supposed to be one word (Safe As Milk :: Services).

Edit 2: Overall, I must say I'm very impressed with the level of attention you've given to the site. Edit 4: Even the accessibility is great. Edit 3: Now all you need are some prettier URLs!

That's some nice spriteage.

I've never really ventured that much into sprites, usually just use them for navigations or rollovers. What would you do if you have an image for the bottom of a div (i.e. curved corners). Wouldn't anything else in your sprite image appear above it, or can you limit the height?

For example:

#something { background:#ccc url(sprite.jpg) no-repeat 0 bottom)

So I'd want the rest of the div to be a solid colour and just the bottom to be curved corners. How would I do that with it in a sprite?
