Site check please

I made my first website BUT it is only design there is no content and I want to know a couple of things:

1. How fast is it for you using IE? If slow what do you think I should do to make it load faster. I try it on netscape 7.2 and mozilla firefox, it loaded really fast. But for IE it is sooo slow.

2. Should I use css layout instead of tables? If so, can you please give me the layout code for the same design I have on the website now.

3. Is there anything I should do besides content to improve the site to make it look professional?

Thanks you for your time.

you mean besides the tahoma-roll-over-drop-shadow-gradient-fabulous you have going on?

nothing worse than someone asking for help and getting a snobby response... no-one's gonna learn anything like that.

To make the site more professional you gotta:

Make the menu buttons much much smaller, and use only small caps or all caps for the menu text (don't use mixed caps)

Add some nice Stock photo or a graphic in the header of the site (above the menu) or if you don't have any good stock photos/graphcis then just leave the menu on top and maybe put your name above it in a very simple small font (without any effects).

Put the 'Welcome to my ePortfollio) part in the content area on the home page only. Make the 'Home Page' Heading waaaay smaller and loose the blue box behind it..

Also no need for the bevels on the menu text (mouse over effect) change the background color the button instead.

I think his request for help sounds perfectly reasonable, maybe not in the politest manner possible, but I would guess it's a language barrier issue rather than arrogance or whatever's being implied.

For all you crazy kids who've just spent the summer at your computers and are thinking about posting a 'my first website' thread:

Have a go at learning to code and look around to see what's what. And next year go outside.
