What i'd say mate, is have a look round the sites shown on these forums. Maybe copy the styles of some of them, experiment with scanning different textures. Use PSP instead of Flash for the graphics inside your animations. Look to evolving your skills through looking and trying other peoples styles until you develop your own style (don't pass off copied work as your own). Take inspiration, do tutorials, an at the age of 12 i'm sure you've got potential. I myself wouldn't rate those sites, you need to break out of boundaries more. Sketch out ideas first, on paper. Often, the more outlandish the design, the better it turns out. i'm only 16 myself, but you'll be surprised how quickly you can improve. Read some books on graphic design, take your time looking at things around you. Use really strong visual stuff in your sites. Last edited by pat : 14-08-2004 at 17:26. |

sorry mate it was an attempt at sarcasm - the banner grafix in your templates look like they've been done in flash (not very good for grafix). I was suggesting using a better program like canvas, adobe photoshop, or macromedia fireworks mx. |

Stick your css stuff in an external file. Keep developing what you've been at already and look around. There's a lot of very good links on this site - and plenty of lip. Get rid of the gimmicks m8 (on your site). Nobody likes gimmicks anymore - but you weren't to know that. You're at the beginning of a pretty nice learning curve so enjoy it young man. You do have a long way to go, but bags of time to get there. |

Take a look at what's out there already and compare it to yours. See what sites catch your eye and what sites give you the impression that the company is professional and successful. Then look at what they have that you don't. That's where many of my designers started out. |

Buy yourself a bike, go outside, enjoy being 12 You'll no doubt spend the next 40 or 50 years sat in front of a computer so why not postpone the inevitable for atleast a while longer. I know I would if I was 12. |
