I've made changes to the font, moved the glasses, lost the tie and kept it grayscale for the time being.

Sorry to stick with the stereotype but the site is intended to be used by norms as well as geeks. So I want an icon that is, well iconicly geeky. But if you have other suggestions that aren't too subtle the average person to understand that would be great.

There's plenty of geeks who don't wear glasses. It's been said.

Wrong approach I reckon. Kermie got it bang on.

What will the site BE?

And sort your kerning or break up the ligature. But like others have said, think the glasses is a shit way to go, but I don't know what the site will actually be so...

Precisely why this media portrayal of the geek can not be shifted because things like this keep popping up, Kermie got it right

I don't wear glasses, or wear a pocket shirt with a pen and pencil. I'm definitely a geek though.

I think it's a pencil and ruler and no they don't but it's far more generalised I feel.

I'm a geek too, geek is cool I tell you

on further research, I'm not a geek in the orginal sense of the word:

I'm trying to think of a situation where one would need to find a geek (computer help maybe, comic book dispute perhaps). Over the Internet no less... I'm really curious as to what this sits purpose is orias!

I can't go into too many details as to the premise of the site as it's still in the very early stages of development (I've kind of jumped the gun and rushed to the logo design). The geek to norm ratio will probably be in favour of the computer illiterate. So I'm not too fussed about being stereotypical.

Although Hurr Kum has created an excellent logo, I don't feel comfortable using his design.

I'm going to churn out 3 more designs (when i have time) replacing the glasses with a computer mouse, cup of coffee and a floppy disk. I don't have access to AI at the minute so I'll have to try my best in photoshop.

How about replacing the image with a microscope?

Magnifying glass would be easier to tie in.

I was thinking the same thing. Seemed obvious to me, because I'm a genius.

More the angle I was hinting at but has that been overused?
