Please take ANOTHER look at www.nomoredesign.co.uk.... it's different this time, hon

Hi all,

Please take a look for one last time at http://www.nomoredesign.co.uk

I've taken on as many comments from previous posts as possible and I'd really appreciate some critique on this new look.

Cheers.

Oh dear.

That's way too much. Also slows down to a crawl.

Good Luck. It's a twat and no mistake, still trying many moons down the line. Just stop tweening so many images - it's always a good start.

Yeah... whoa. Though I must say the *idea* is pretty original, as far as look goes. But when it takes 10 seconds for the last frame to grudge by, I would close it and forget it.

Is this only a problem on Macs or are people suffering slowness on PCs as well?

i had to work to read it. I'd only ever do that in these circumstances, otherwise i'd be clicking away...
Slow (ish) on my pc at work - dread to think on the mac at home.

I've only tested it on one mac so far - my crappy iBook at home - and I presumed it was slow simply because of my machine.

All the animation is scripted but I'm at a loss as to how to improve the performance.

I've uploaded the file if anyone fancies a challenge! Don't all jump at once....

Don't bother with the .fla -- it's slow because you are tweening images. Don't tween images and you will be fine. It might mean a back-to-the-drawing-board situation, but take my word for it, there's no way that I know of that's going to speed up a tween of a JPEG.

get rid of them anyway - popular concensus is it's hard to read anyway.

that's what i'm finding so confusing, there aren't any motion tweens, but all the animation is done using scripting...

you're right though, looks like i may have to start again

If anyone has any brainwaves of super ingenious ideas the file in question is at http://www.nomoredesign.co.uk/navigation.zip

On my pc here it tweens okay but i'm still not enjoying the hatched lines and the general unreadableness of the text. Other than that i think it's great navigation and layout - dont give up on it just yet.

How's sunny Brighton btw? Got a lot of time for that place - grew up there.

It's supercool. I've only been here for a couple of years after I came down from London and I'm getting very used to the life down here.

In fact the only thing that's bugging me is this poxy site!
