crap.. just found out that the dot version I made is somewhat distorted when in close up view. The paths & curves looks smooth & fine in Illu but distortion arise when I try to export it in FL. Any tips regarding this issue or someone came across to this problem? Almost tried everything but still get the same results. Am I missing something here?

Very nice work. I love watching a typeface evolve.
In your last preview, top bold face, it feels like you can go swimming between the R and D. Could just be a layout issue though. I don't know if you control that with the font.
I love the dashed version and the ampersand. Very slick.

i have made the following changes in the letter q to avoid the descender squiggly touching some letters that is placed next to it (i.e. QATAR). Looks good or bad?

Hmm. The Q in the lowest one looks like it is too far down. The top of the Q looks like it needs to be higher to appear (optically) that it is the same height as the U.

Very nice work so far. And its great to hear you're releasing it for free! I'll definitely download it once you smooth out the kinks. Just a few things I've noticed so far: The C and S look a little small, optically. The lower case t looks unbalanced as well.

I love that ampersand, by the way.

I'd like to get into font design as well, but its just so time consuming. That, combined with the fact I don't have a decent font editor. Ten minutes of fontforge is enough to drive anyone insane.

ok. did some overshoot with the curves to balance the letters optically & trimmed down the lower case "t". Hope it looks much better now.

God, i feel exhausted lol. Need some fresh air. Gotta go to the beach! =)

Guys, I have uploaded a pdf file showing Quicksand in action. I am planning to release this by next week so a little bit of help to speed up the process will be appreciated. Have it printed to see it clearly.

I'm afraid that the dot version will not be included in this release because of the rounding issues I'm having. I have found a way to correct the errors but it is very time consuming.

Let me know what you think so far prior to the release.

The font itself looks good.

Dont like the pdf.
Green is a bit yucky.
Margins are badly proportioned.
The type looks a bit spotty because its set so wide in the paragraphs

Really good font but i would look at some other type sepcimens for inspritaion on layout

Very impressive, congratulations! I still think the f curve is too sharp, although the t is acceptible. The 3's open side curves too much - look at the lower part of the 5 and compare it with the 3. I'd like them to be more similar. When they are, you could adjust the top half of the 3 to match it. Numbers are real bitches to get right, ain't they?! And it's almost impossible to borrow bits from the letters to help out.

Some minor update. Fixed the curve of lower case "f" and made some changes in number 3 for consistency.

I kinda like my first version of "Q" as well but it has a problem with the descender squiggly touching some letters placed next to it. Bringing it down just don't look right for me. I'll see what i can do with it.

IT’s letterforms are built should be its.

I don't like the 3. It doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the numbers.

Maybe you could have the original Q be an alternate letter that can be chosen by the designer, or only shows up when it isn't next to something that it would interfere with.

Lots of kerning pairs have some problems. the e-v-i in evidently w-o in work and w-i in will, to name a few.

Otherwise, it's looking great. The pdf doesn't look bad either.

The f is a lot better now. The 3 is better too but wheedwacker is right, it doesn't match the other numbers exactly. I think it's a bit narrow. The lower part is ok now it matches the 5. I wonder if you could borrow the top off the 7 and give the 3 a flattop? Probably need to make the angle more acute though.
