Calling all grid fans

I came acrosss this article yesterday on... another forum *gasp*

I know everyones getting a bit tired of the whole grid thing now but this is a really brilliant introduction and actually in later post goes in to more detail than in any book I have read. Some of the dudes on this site really know their onions.

I recall mitch asking a question regarding paragraph breaks and whther or not to use a full return, well some of the peoples on here are offering other alternatives for those who prefer a half space or something.

Theres a dude on here that also recons a baseline grid based on 3pt is all you ever need. He calls it the base 3 system and supposedly it supports a hguge variety of type sizes and leading so is flexible enough for most design tasks including complex things such as papers and the like.

Anyways have a read ya'll. and be sure to read all the comments becasue thats where alot of the juicy stuff is

Interestingly one guy recons, that in order to produce grid units whereby the ascenders and decenders touch the vertical and lower limits of your grid units (like in brockmanns grid model) you need to consider the cap height of the typeface you are using.

They dont teach you this shit at school

Nice little tut that, is relative to current software, which i imagine the kidzzz can relate easily to.

I personally found Brockmanns book quite a heavy and labour intensive read. Am I alone in finding it a strain on the eyes to read???
Probably just the fact I'm a specky four eyed tw@!

I found it quite easy to read.

I struggle with my vision occasionally (eyes are fucked from monitor) but i didn't heave any problems. Think the lettering is set in 10 or 11pt as well so its quite big.
