I think the semi-transparency needed in order to convey that idea is the problem. Could it be achieved using neg/pos space?

That is what I thought. If nobody here got it though, then I failed.

I am looking into more space between the elements, as I feel the technical edge that I feel this has is definately needed (it was only when I researched, I found out that it is a very meticulous job, as the whole process of demolition isn't about smashing down a building, but dissecting it so that the adjecent buildings aren't affected structurally).

Also I felt the idea of a simplified graphic could be also be used as a holding element in promotional material - say to contain images or give structure to the page as a graphic element.

I have loads on, so I think I will leave it a day or so and come back to it with fresh eyes.
