Concept for blog
Concept Im working on atm for a fictional blog on matters of design. Just trying to bulk up my folio so this will never actually get built. Im quite pleased with the layout but want to introduce some small illustrative elements somewhere. What do you think so far? Big Mouth Strikes Again

Quite like it, is the font in the 'safe list'? It felt like a 1970s newspaper to me. Do add more illustrations to give the whole blog more color. Currently, it's very dull. Anyway, would love the side bar on the right; posts on the left. 3.5/5 =) |

thanks for the comment. The font is consolas which ships with vista, quite similar to courier new so can always fall back on that. Its important for me that I retain a minimal look bacause i don't want the site design to deter from the content too much. But i do agree i need to inject some subtle colour into the design Big Mouth Strikes Again

Somehow the yellow on the sidebar and the red of your image just makes me think of the old Hotdog Stand theme of Windows 3.1 days. ![]() But I like your layout, maybe tone the yellow down a bit. It looks like someone used a fresh hilighter on the entire left side of the page, which is unnatural. |

i much preferred the first one, but maybe with categories and authors under recent posts? That big list is a bit oppressive to be the first thing you see. I think some nice black on white pen/pencil illustrations would sit really well under the text thats under the image too. Nice though. |

Don't bulk up your portfolio with this. Number one: it isn't built. It's a blog. It should be designed and coded. Number two: get rid of the "in your dreams" list of authors. I don't think they would appreciate their names being on a list like that inside of some dude's portfolio. Something here very soon.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to put this in my portfolio man why does it have to be designed and coded? whos making up the rules here? all im doing is demonstrating to an employer that I have ideas outside the commercial work that i do and that I can come up with good layouts I see nothing wrong with that. The names are simply there to convey the theme of the blog as they are well known to be design critics. I doubt they would be so sensitive to care tbh tsssk Big Mouth Strikes Again
