Don't worry - they get alot of idiots through here, which explains the initial reaction. And they're not fond of people who can't code a site from the ground up. They may be harsh, but they do know what they're talking about.

I understand what you are saying. On a side note, I did make quite a few changes to the site. I tried to incorporate all the suggestions I got, including logo issue, font size, and colors: Univox Designs - Professional Web Development (index2.php)

Thanks again.

Oh and to the moderators: perhaps it would be appropriate to merge this thread with this other thread, if it's not too much trouble.

For some reason the site simply won't load for me at all. I just get a connection timed out message. Not sure if it's just me?

It's been working fine for me the whole time as well. I've been updating and refreshing a lot, so I'm sure the server is reacting in kind (it's not the best host in the world). I guess I'll just upload a screenshot:

Your line length is huge.

Give the reader a break and reduce it to between 7 - 12 words which will make for comfortable reading. Not only that but will look better aesthtically.

Logo is nice but its far too similar to the clear:left logo.

Introduce some more design as well at the moment all I see is a blue box with text in it.

yeah just the amount of text! I know alot of people like designers sites to be quirky and have as little text as possible - showcasing their skills - which your site lacks - showcase

Yes I know. I'm not very happy with the design currently (all you have to do is go to index2.php to view it as I keep making changes), so I figured I was best to just put a simple logo/contact page for the time being. I kept the rest of the content live in order to maintain my climbing search engine rankings (I know, I know, I should probably employ the robots.txt).

Yes I'm afraid that's my fault for two reasons - I didn't do a good job of optimizing the images for the web, and I didn't code it very well (I used tables - big mistake). Both problems will be fixed soon!

I will definitely address it. Thanks. I'm really bummed out that my logo is like the clear left logo. I honestly didn't know about that logo/site before this thread. I will try to come up with something more original, but hopefully still utilize the trademark cube (in some form) I've been using for a while. Do you think perhaps it's the font and not the cubes that make it too similar?

I don't really understand what you mean. The portfolio is still being built, so yes, you're right, as of yet it doesn't showcase anything. However, I'm of the opinion that spending some time and actually typing up some quality content is almost as good as good portfolio work (in terms of SEO and of demystifying my services), so I don't plan to erase any of the text I don't think...

I'm currently out of town, so I won't be making any updates for a few days, but I really appreciate all the feedback!

I meeean there is too much text right at the start of the user "experience" so many people will go urgh and turn away! - even for clients

just try and ease people into a bit more - i would put alot of text on perhaps one page - but on the home page?

Oh I understand. Actually that's a really good idea, and I think if I did that it might help me to improve other aspects of the organization of the page. Thanks! I will look into it along with the other suggestions.
