The Cube

6 months later and after some legal wrangling and delays, it finally got printed and delivered today. Tried to post the pics in the original thread Self locking box template but they weren't showing up for some reason. Sorry for the crap quality pics. Phone camera.

The idea was to have a little bit more than a bland flyer in the mailer kit that will be scanned and most likely binned or lost on the desk under a pile of paper. Of course I could be an idealist LOL

Managed to take some better pics. Click thumbnails to view larger images.
The idea behind the cube is that it will be sent to registrars along with other material so they will have something that can sit on a desk or shelf and be a visual reminder of the new tld that's on the way. That's what I'm hoping anyway. Hopefully the interaction/satisfaction of constructing the cube is enough for them not to chuck it in the bin immediately. A flyer was sure to be crumpled up and thrown in the bin or lost under a pile of papers on the desk. Probably seems like an extravagant flyer (it is I suppose). It's a 5 colour job. The orange is Pantone 021C and the rest are made from CMYK mixes. I was hesitant to use the orange for a dutch tld. Might be a cliche but I couldn't resist. The folding and cutting were done on a machine that was brought in for the job at the printers. I didn't get to see the process due to my workload and I'm a bit pissed off really as I wanted to see it and take some photos. Each cube works out at around 50 cent each I think.

Used the same colours for the folders. The printers are now using the folder as a sample to show to their clients because it's less dull and boring that the usual blues and greys they have.

A4 letterhead was on the menu also.

The envelopes were different to what I expected. The info I got for the window dimensions and position was very vague so I had to play it safe. In the end the window was smaller that expected as you can see from the design.

Looks great, except for the envelopes (that window is really weird, never seen it before over here). I like the idea of the product also, having a .co.nl domain on the side.

About the orange, I don't think we could ever get enough of that :P

Cheers drik. For the envelope there was a lot of uncertainty. Our guy in The Dam checked with the post office and he told me the window is on the left. Nobody, even our printer was sure which side we should use as they will be sent from the Netherlands, so I took our man in Amsterdam's word for it.

Magic. That's exactly what I was designing for. Thanks drik. The printers are German so I guess it's another format there. Other than that problem, they have been top to work with.
