I don't want to comment too much, but the color could use some serious thought. Looks like it went straight from tube to canvas. Second reminds me of that one by Matisse. Not as good, unfortunately! The Dance (painting) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

I know the Matisse one you refer to. You do have to remember I have no formal training in painting. And these were my first oil experiments (some ten years ago). At any rate, I know now they're not good. It's just something I enjoyed doing. Colours are not exactly straight from the tube, but I do like vivid colours, so that won't change if I get back to it. |

liked oils but my forgetful/booze addled mind never really got the hang of the long drying times. Only ever really sketched with oils - usually in black and white. wouldn't say i ever did a masterpiece but i did sell a few to folks foolish enough. used to like painting with oils on glass or smooth wood panels - great for scraping back paint (wet or dry) with a razor blade to get the odd sharp line ... loved doing that far more than pap canvas.. never got on with that. digging out the paint brushes is on the list for when i retire. personal --www.rogersartwork.com
