i think that the minimal look works rather well, and you've managed to pull of the "random-esque" positioning of things fairly well too. update; and the article is very well written in my opinion, you put across some interesting points (: |

Hey thanks alexharman. I didn't mean to make it random-esque, it's probably the sparseness. Here's my grid. http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/3379/gridpf7.png |

Just a quick Q - why not make the layout scalable? I know that we're probably past designing for 800x600 (maybe this is debatable), but it seems a little silly making such a minimal and easy-to-be-made-flexible layout so rigid. |

The reason I made it fixed width is because the I have optimized the text column to contain 10-15 words on each line. The content of the site is targeted towards people who are in the design and related industry so I can safely assume such a reader group have screens bigger than 15 inches. I will eventually create a device-friendly layout for and maybe 1 for the iPhone. You gave me an idea. I'll probably write about fixed and liquid websites for my next post. |

I like really sparse sites. I feel this one just needs a slight something to hold the layout together. The content is good though. probably the most important bit for a blog. One thing i would do is perhaps align the blog post dates on the headers baseline. looks wonky high to me as is. personal --www.rogersartwork.com
