Working on my Portfolio site

I'm currently working on this for my personal portfolio site:

Zen Media

It isn't finished by a long shot, and the only pages that are currently available are the homepage and the Portfolio page.

What I'm after is some criticism and tips. Keep it constructive please.

Thanks.

I won't go into the code bit but from adesign standpoint you could improve on what you have now just by applying a simple grid and organising everything a bit more.

I don't get the ugly paper background that says "I am a fish I am a fish I am a fish I am a fish." Ditch that.

You need more padding around all your content, and greater line-spacing to clean it up.

It's generally bad practice to have a long line of text and then just 1 or 2 words flowing onto the next line. It looks like your text had no thought behind it. Use Apple as an excellent basis for how to lay out text.

Also, what is the significance of this:

The coloured image is temporary to fill the whitespace above the navigation.
The text is also just there for display purposes and is definitely not finalized.

The need for more padding makes sense to me, and i will sort that out.
