Needing more experienced eyes for design
I've been redesigning my page to give it a more professional feel, and well.. here it is: kim.wblinks (dot) com (I'd post a URL, but I don't have 15 posts as of yet). The design itself is rather simple; I've not quite branched out that much as of yet. However, the content area bothers me; it feels like it's too wide, and frankly, I'm not quite sure what I should do to break it up. I suppose I could have some sort of image right there - whether from my portfolio, or perhaps from my photography - but otherwise, not sure yet (and am currently open to ideas). Anyway.. There it is in all its simplicity... |

#1 : You've got centered body copy, poor color/type treatment, nothing here is designed really. #2 : Positionning the menu on top right, even if it's original is not particularly good idea. #3 : Your code is Tentatively Valid, and your design as well. sorry mate, I don't want to be harsh, but professional is not the first word that comes to my mind. Yeah try aligning text and also wrapping the text around the images in the body to will help. Dont have the text go all the way across the page it looks to thin and empty put them into blocks with images will fill out the page. there is alot of wasted space on the page. |

Got rid of the centered text, and worked on color a little, but now I have to run to class. Thanks so far guys; I don't mind a little harshness. I'll work on it more when I get home. Menu will be moved when I get home, along with putting them into boxes to see how that works. |

Alrite.. So.. I basically just redid it. It still looks quite shitty in my eyes... I can't figure out why the tiling on the BG just stops at the bottom, and frankly it pisses me off. It's also a little image heavy now... And I can't seem to get the site info to position itself properly without creating a huge blank space between the content div and the site info div. Any help on these would be appreciated, as would all critiques. I'm still working on debugging it.. but right now, back to studying for exams... Screw exams. Fixed some of the crap that was going on with the background. Last edited by Belinkd : 21-05-2008 at 23:24. |
